We work with the following Maternity Units:
Clacton
Colchester
Ipswich
West Suffolk
MNVPs serve the needs of local families, gathering feedback and advising Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) which include expert clinical groups and those commissioning services. MNVPs ensure that the views of those who use the services are always heard.
All local families can get involved with their MNVP to help make positive change by giving feedback or becoming a representative. Membership of the group may also include charities, advocacy groups and statutory partners such as Healthwatch.
Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships (MNVP’s) are made up of those who use maternity services, those who commission them and those who provide them. We all work together to review and contribute to the development of local maternity and neonatal care.
What is an MNVP?
Hello
I'm Rachel, the Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) Lead for Suffolk. I'm passionate about making sure the voices of women, birthing people, babies, and families are at the heart of improving local maternity and neonatal services. I work closely with families, healthcare professionals, and community organisations to help shape care that is safe, inclusive, and truly meets the needs of the people who use it.
I've been involved with the MNVP since the birth of my first child, and it's a real privilege to now lead this work. My own experiences have given me a deep understanding of how important it is for every family to feel listened to, respected, and supported. I'm passionate about working together to make a positive difference, ensuring maternity and neonatal care continues to improve and that every family's voice helps shape the future of local services.

What does an MNVP do?
Listen
MNVPs work in partnership with their local maternity units to connect everyone involved in maternity and neonatal care, both people who use the services and staff. They take an active role in how the LMNS works, with representation in all key decision-making groups.
Work in partnership
MNVPs help shape decision-making and the way services are designed and developed. They act as a ‘critical friend’ to make sure that anything which impacts those using the services and their families is considered.
Shape the future
An MNVP listens to the experiences of people who use maternity services. They are a place for the voices of families to be represented.
Make improvements
Each MNVP produces an annual work plan which is aligned to the local needs of the families that use maternity services.
